CHEF'S SPECIAL WHOLE FRIED POMFRET

Ingredients

  • One whole pomfret
  • 2 teaspoons ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Marinade

  1. Clean the pomfret and make three or four slits on each side.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, lemon juice, and salt to taste.
  3. Mix the ingredients well to form a paste.
  4. Apply the marinade to the pomfret, making sure to apply it evenly on both sides.
  5. Cover the pomfret and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Frying the Pomfret

  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadhai.
  2. Once the oil is hot, gently add the pomfret to the oil.
  3. Fry the pomfret on medium heat for 6-7 minutes on one side.
  4. Gently flip the pomfret and fry for another 6-7 minutes on the other side.
  5. Remove the pomfret from the oil and let it rest on a plate for a few minutes.

Presentation

  1. Place the fried pomfret on a serving dish.
  2. Garnish with lemon wedges, coriander leaves, and sliced onions.
  3. Serve hot with steamed rice and dal.
